It all started in Australia for us! It was like discovering all the things that made us happy! We really embraced the lifestyle there and that meant living a more active lifestyle, eating great quality food and being introduced to a better way of living. For many Melbournians, café culture is a huge part of day-to- day life – there’s a huge emphasis on being social in Melbourne. While grabbing a few beers with mates is always going to be a popular pastime – hitting your local café with your friends or family for a bite to eat and a coffee was something new to us.
Given the incredible weather, there’s also a great emphasis on getting up and out early in the morning. It’s not strange for people to have done a HIIT class and breakfast at their local café with a friend before heading to the office. Sure once the sun comes out in Ireland, its clear to see people are up and out of the house as soon as possible and for good reason. That Aussie way of life fueled our passion for all things café and really inspired us to move home and open our own space.
The three things we focused on from the get go were the food, the coffee and the space itself. The inner-city suburbs of Dublin are developing so well at the moment, like Stoneybatter & Smithfield, and we could see that Phibsborough had great potential. It’s becoming a fantastic place for young urban professionals and young families to settle given the more affordable house prices and short distance from the city centre. Once we walked into 375 North Circular Road, we knew it was the right spot. We had spent a year and a half getting our ducks in a row, with us both building the plans for the café, deciding the aesthetic we wanted to go for and finding the right team to work with. When we first met Terry Design we noticed the large sign in their office – GOOD VIBES ONLY. Given that we’re two very positive thinking guys and the Terry Design team being so talented and professional, it just felt right to work with them on our first project.
Nine months on and things are going very well for us. We’ve built a really strong team who we’re so proud of and that work incredibly hard each & every day. It’s a fun, positive & laid back environment and our aim is for each person to feel that as they walk through our door. Two Boys Brew is about community, whether that be people from the immediate area or those who’ve come across us via our social media platforms and identify with what we are doing and want to be part of it. We want to finish each day knowing that the little bit of time people spent with us makes their day better and makes their life that bit richer.
