August 9th is Booklovers’ Day and what better way to celebrate than with a list of books old and new that are on our G+C Crew’s current reading agenda!
Here’s everything the team is reading at the moment and some completely useless information about the books and our random thoughts on them.
Kate
Title: The Importance of Being Aisling
Author: Emer McLysaght & Sarah Breen
The Low-down: Sequel to a book about a girl named Aisling. We assume. Kidding. We don’t assume, we know. She’s funny, she’s relatable, she’s hilarious. She’s a complete Aisling.
Kate Says: Am I the only normal person who reads books on their phone?
Niall
Title: Extreme You: Step Up. Stand Out. Kick Ass. Repeat.
Author: Sarah Robb O’Hagan
The Low-down: From Virgin Atlantic to Nike, Gatorade to Equinox, this is a book about a gal named Sarah. Sarah is a HIGH ACHIEVER.
Niall Says: This is an excellent book and I’m learning a lot (Sarah is AWESOME). In an effort to cover some depth and breadth in my reading I have decided to follow up with the one about the unicorn. Diversity and variation is KEY.
Natalie
Title: Diary of a Drag Queen
Author: Crystal Rasmussen
The Low-down: Autobiographical tales of a-year-in-the-life of Crystal Rasmussen AKA Tom Rasmussen AKA Tom Glitter who is pretty fab and did some wonderful things.
Natalie Says: This book makes you think in equal parts that the mad things you’ve done were really not that mad and also that maybe you should have done some more mad things…
Wes
Title: That’s not my Unicorn… its Mane is too Fluffy
Author: Fiona Watt
The Low-down: A book for toddlers about unicorns. Or, more specifically, finding the right unicorn (and we all know how tricky that process is…)
Wes Ses: I have twins and they are babies and this is my life.
Karl
Title: Business for Punks: Break All the Rules - The BrewDog Way
Author: James Watt
The Low-down: A book about how to do things really, really well and annoy a few rule-followers along the way. Successful business for interesting humans.
Karl Says: Here now, I like brew, I like dogs, I like business and I like punks. I also like Scottish people. Why wouldn’t I read this book? Why wouldn't YOU read this book?
Diarmuid:
Title: What I Know About Running Coffee Shops
Author: Colin Harmon
The Low-down: One-man-nightclub-coffee-cart solopreneur to fancy-pants business owner and all-round legend. The How-To Guide to coffee things.
Diarmuid Says: As a person who is always very interested in finding out when and where we are going to get our morning coffee, this book makes me feel good about how much I like coffee and need to go and get coffee. Coffee.
Allie:
Title: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
Author: Mark Manson
The Low-down: A book about how to live a pretty effing good life without any of the effing BS. Or, accepting that there will be BS and not giving an eff about it.
Allie Says: I say what I want. I don’t give a f*ck. I do though. But this is an excellent book and I got carried away...
Adele
Title: Shoe Dog
Author: Phil Knight
The Low-down: Story of a dude who did pretty well in life but y’know, not without some setbacks along the way.
Adele Says: I’m reading it because it’s a good book but also a little bit in the hopes that Phil sees this blog, takes pity on a poor content writer and gives me some free Nikes. Hint: my rose gold Air Max Theas are in need of an upgrade...
