Gym+Coffee And The World Cup 2018
World Cup fever has most definitely hit Ireland. It’s beginning to seep into the Gym+Coffee office and slowly take over our lives.
It’s hard to even imagine a time pre-World Cup at this stage. When there wasn’t three football games on every single day and people spoke of non-football-related issues. A time when you didn’t become a passionate supporter of whatever random country the office sweepstakes paired you with.
To celebrate all things World Cup and Football we caught up with freestyle footballer, Conor Reynolds. Conor is a friend of the brand, a long-time collaborator of Gym+Coffee and current Irish Freestyle Football Champion.
Hailing from Galway, Conor has a background playing for local football and GAA teams. After suffering a knee injury he was forced out of team sports for a short period. During this time, while trawling YouTube he came upon a football freestyler from Holland and immediately fell in love with the sport. After seeing that first video, he started practicing his own moves. His training became an obsession and his freestyling career took off from there.

Conor spoke with us about the rigorous training regime which led to his greatest achievement.
“I started freestyling back in August 2010. So, it’s coming on eight years now. I normally train five to six hours a week for two to three hours each day. Something I also wanted to be was the Irish Champion. In the last few years especially I’ve really upped my game and my training. Last year I finally achieved my goal. My goal now is to once become Irish Freestyle Champion once again in September. If I win that, I’ll be going to the Red Bull World Finals in Poland.”
Conor is a hidden gem in Ireland. Someone who, through hard work and honing his craft, has risen to the very top of his sport. Conor is now considered to be on par with some of the world's most elite freestylers. He has made a big name for himself and amassed a large following through his freestyling exploits. He also achieved a world first in landing one of the most difficult combinations in the sport.
To celebrate all things freestyle football, the World Cup and Conor's impressive success we have teamed up with Conor for a few weeks of World Cup fun. There will be lots of competitions, giveaways and videos showcasing the Freestyle Champion of Ireland - Conor Reynolds.
