Summer is coming, we can feeeeeeeeel it! And that means, WELLNESS FESTIVAL TIME! Yes, we are all totally here for a mad music festival weekend every now and then, but the idea of waking up on a Monday morning feeling rested and re-energised after a festival weekend is one that we can fully get behind!
So, here are six re-energizing fitness events that we cannot wait to attend in Ireland this Summer.
1. EarthSong: June - July, 2020, Glendree, Co.Clare
Earthsong is a unique type of music festival that is much like a summer camp for adults. There is no alcohol, late night noise or electric music. Earthsong is held in the secluded fields of Glendree and was created to help its attendees reconnect with nature. The festival was developed by drum teacher John Bowker and is unlike anything else in Ireland.
Patrons can enjoy days full of yoga, chanting, drum circles, dancing, indigenous songs from foreign cultures and more. It is something a little different that will introduce you to a whole new way of thinking and living. This year, there’s the added bonus of 9-day camps in Tipperary!
What better way to escape and re-energize!
2. Thrive Festival: 29 February - 1st March, 2020, The Convention Centre, Dublin
Set in the heart of Dublin City over multiple floors and multiple days, Thrive Festival is a fitness and lifestyle festival that rocked onto the Irish wellness scene only last year and it’s gone from strength to strength.
There’s a packed timetable of workout classes from CrossFIt to meditation plus a special spot with Gym+Coffee pal, Julie B. Yoga! Tickets are on sale now but will no doubt be snapped up soon. What are you waiting for?!
3. Mourne International Walking Festival: 19-21 June, 2020, Co Down
We often take for granted just how great a place Ireland is for walking and hiking. This festival celebrates that fact by offering a plethora of hikes in the beautiful surroundings of the Mourne Mountains (for more on this incredible piece of Ireland, check out our Weekend Adventure in Co. Down!).
The event lasts three days and attendees can take in some amazing scenery while mingling with fellow hiking enthusiasts. The festival is internationally recognized and a real highlight for the walking community. Besides, this is the land of the Game of Thrones, who wouldn’t want to hike through that? (While we’re on that topic, fans of GoT might like to check out the Game of Thrones Tours).
4.Wellfest: 9-10 May, 2020, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin
One of our absolute favourite events of the summer season, we’ve been with Wellfest as the official clothing partner right from day one and it’s always been such a spectacular event! This year will be no different so make sure to get your hands on tickets cos these guys sell out every single year.
The even better news for 2020 though? Wellfest Ireland is expanding to Wellfest UK! Yep, this year on June 6-7 get yourself a flight to London and double down on the wellness experience of a lifetime with both fests!
5. Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit: 12 October 2020, Croke Park, Dublin
Billed as the only event of its kind in Ireland, this is a one-day event that focuses solely on providing practical advice, tools and information on managing your (or other’s) mental health. A little different than some of the other events in this post, this is more summit than a festival, but we think the focus on mental health is an important one and the range of speakers and exhibitors means there really is something for everyone.
Held at Dublin’s Croke Park in October, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit will feature talks, seminars and an exhibition hall plus uplifting, live performances!
6. Dublin Mind-Body Experience: 17-19 May 2019, RDS, Dublin
This is a yoga, meditation, health and wellbeing event with free entry all weekend long. There are over 60 holistic therapists, yoga + mindfulness teachers providing free classes, demonstrations and treatments, plus a slew of exhibitors showcasing health and wellness products + services.
Pre-register on the website to get priority access to all the talks and classes you can handle (there’s 75 hours worth of yoga classes alone) and delve into the world of plant-based living in the Veg Out Dublin zone. You can even get some psychic advice with Tarot readings, Palmistry or Angel cards in the Psychic and Holistic Fair area!
7.Gym+Coffee Summer Stretch + Make Life RIcher Day: June 2020, Venue TBC
Summer Stretch is coming back with a vengeance in 2020 and we can’t wait! We had a jam-packed calendar last June with events happening every weekend in both Dublin and Cork and we held our very first Make Life Richer Day with some stellar partners and our Head of Community, the one and only Brian O’Driscoll!
